no i havent yet, i am working in mexico, about 6 hours from the apple store in san antonio. the only time i can go is on saturday, at that time it will be exactlly 14 days. i have the 1,999 type, and i really hope they will make no problem for me to upgrade it. i am more concern they will tell me they cannot upgrade it than to pay the restocing fee

I am confused. I bought the 2.6 weeks ago. What is the deal about the new 2.5?
I know the difference is almost nill, but ain't 2.6 "faster" than 2.5?

I bought the mbp 17", 2.6, 200 gb 7200rpm hd.
the only improvement I see is the new touch pad. I would enjoy that feature but the faster processor and the faster harddrive are worth more to me.
As others have stated, "new and improved" models will always come along or we would all be using commodore 64's.

I bought my first Mac yesterday...

How likely is it the retail store will waive the restocking fee if I talk to them in person? What happens to my AppleCare if I exchange?

All i ran into these same issues. I called on tuesday, received the $500 refund (actually was $530) and it showed on my credit card today.

Great point!!! I remember when Commodore 64 was the "best" computer available.:Smirk:

BTW -- Apple is very strict with their 14 days and it's the shipping date, not delivery date.
