I know many people say to not bother getting virus protection for Macs....but my brother keeps telling me i should JUST in case.....as who knows when more viruses will sprout up.

Yay or Nay? and if yay...what's a good one?

Does not answer the question just provides two asides of the argument I guess.

You will sure need some protection if you set up Windows to run on your machine. Also whilst virus etc won't affect your Mac, it is possible to pass them on to your friends via email attachments etc.

Use NAV (Nortons) v. 11 and do not have any issue with it.

AVAST has a mac version and I've loved the Windows version for over a year now.... I asked myself "Why not?" then I wondered why I was talking to myself.... then I installed AVAST. :)

I say nay. I've been using macs since 2003, have sought out viruses, been to the nastiest, most scrupulous sites, and nothing. Nada. zilch. The only thing anti-virus software is going to do, is suck up your resources with it's inept existence.
If there becomes a virus for mac, you'll hear about it. Then install your anti-virus software. Until then, the only thing that could ruin your computer, is you.
