New keyboard overrides normal function keys

Hey guys. I actually like this new keyboard from Apple. I also like the iTunes controls on the F buttons. The thing is that with my work in Illustrator, I need those hotkeys to show windows or do certain actions. I've tried holding a combination of control, option, and command keys but to no avail.

I have absolutely no problem that I have to press down another key to use my hotkeys, but is there a way I can use it without modifying them in my Adobe software?

yes, press the FN key to the left of the control key.

the Fn key for you is to the right of the delete button and to the left of the home button

Does anyone know why they took the apple off of the cmd key?

I think it was too windows esque, hence the windows key on windows keyboards.
