Ext HD likes to go to sleep. (freeagent)

Hello all,

Its my first post so be gentile with me heh.

I've recently only gone and got myself a 500 GB freeagent ext Hard drive, problem is when I hook it up to my I-Mac and want to play music every couple of minutes there is a pause where the drive has gone to sleep and need a sec to reconnect. The box clearly reads compatible with Mac and PC.

Is there some kind of re format I can do to stop this ? Its Mac OS Extended atm.

What sort of imac have you got

I have a freeagent connected to my G4 via a USB 2 card. All my itunes are on it and I have had no problems so far

Last years iMac (flat panel) with intel core duo.
