Update

I sucessfully moved my music from my IPOD to ,my new IMAC. ITUNES recognizes my IPOD which was originally formatted for Windows.
When the screen shows up showing my Ipod, the tab that shows UPDATE says it can only update MAC formatted Ipod.
Any ideas on this?

Have you got all your music off it?

I am afraid you will either have to update the ipod in windows, or format it for mac and re-load all your tunes

I did get all of my music off of it. I would have no idea how to reformat it, unless it just means to click the Restore button.

I guess the restore button will do it

yes clicking the restore button will return the ipod to factory settings for a mac. it will erase whatever's on the disk.

Yes that is correct.

Plug the iPod into your Mac and when iTunes opens (or when you open it) simply click the Restore button. It will then format that iPod for the Mac.
