connecting to AOL via dial up

Hey everyone, I'm trying to connect to aol via dial up (external usb modem) on a macbook pro with max os x 10.4. I have entered the aol screen name, the password, and the numbers yet when it finishes dialing it disconnects right after the user authentication part. Just wondering if anyone here connects to aol via dial up on a mac or knows how to (or possibly knows what I'm doing wrong)
