Finder - file directory

a while back in finder it showed me the file directory at the bottom of the finder window showing all the previous folders etc and how i got there.

For example it might say -

Documents>School>Maths>Project One>introduction.doc

any ideas on how to get this bar to show up all the time or something similar?

At the finder
select view/customize toolbar

move "path" into the toolbar

by clicking on "path" you will now be able to see the path to the item
