I have had this problem twice now. I will play a store-bought DVD on my computer and when I go to play it in a conventional DVD player it says not compatible. Can anyone explain this?

Improper handling of the disk and getting grimy fingerprints on it?

My best guess. Has nothing to do with playing it on your computer first since the disk can't be written to.

Nope. this has happened with two different disks now. One has been played on a DVD player before, the other was played first on the computer.

Doesn't matter, has nothing to do with playing them on your computer. 'Tis only coincidence.

Next best guess would be a DVD player with a dirty lens and beginning to have random problems due to it.
