i have a quick question

i m new to the macbook and i have all my music stored on my external hooked up to my pc in another room

no i have put most of my music on the macbook but i really want to save my harddrive space

can i just link my itunes so it reads only from my external and not store them on the macbook?

also i have shared out my itunes folder on my desktop but i can see them in itunes but i cant use them to put on a ipod( i can dra and drop to music area or my ipod

Hi there. I have all my iTunes on my external drive.

In iTunes, just go to Preferences/Advanced. Under the "General" tab it will say "iTunes music folder location". Click the change button and select your location where all your music files are. I'm not sure if you have to format the external drive first or not. Maybe a more experienced person can tell you that.
