X11 Update

2.53 GHz MBP, 4 GB RAM, 320 GB HDD
When I run AppFresh it tells me that X11 has an update. Is this safe to do? I pretty much have no idea what X11 is or does.

If you are not using X11, then there is no need to update it.

X11 is an alternate windowing system that is widely used in Unix and Linux. Since Mac OS X is unix based, it is included. Think of it as an overlay on top of the Mac OS X windowing system. In general, the only app you may ever use that needs X11 is the graphics editor GIMP. If you are not using GIMP, you likely don't need, or need to care about, X11.
