Install PC SATA Hardrive in Mac Quad Pro?

I have a kuput Gateway PC with a SATA hard drive... can I put it into my Mac Quad Pro running XP?

Will it be plug-n-play or will I need to format the drive? I can't lose the data on the drive.

It is plug and play. If it is NTFS format (probably) then you will be able to read the files and copy them to your other drive. Then you can reformat with HFS+
