Sounds like you're running at a low resolution.

What resolution are you outputing to the external display?

Are you running at the monitor native resolution(if it's lcd)?

If it's CRT what size is it? What's it's maximum capable resolution?

How is the mac connected to the monitor? Could be the cable.

If the monitor's OK on the PC, the resolution is set correctly, you're happy the cable is OK Then it has to be the output from the mac, be it a hardware or software issue.

Do you have another monitor you could hook it up to?

I' having issues with running an external monitor & the new 10.5.2 update. Several people also have this issue, we can't set the resolution for the external monitor.

What OS X version are you running?
