Might as well merge this one with that one. That one didn't specifically mention Wal-Mart.

Not that it matters anymore as Toshiba have sent up the white flag and abandon HD DVD format. Thus bluray will become the industry standard.

Actually they officially haven't done that yet. It's expected, but hasn't been done at this point.

LOL, as soon as I read the title I started laughing.

BREAKING NEWS: K-Mart chooses Rachael Ray line over Martha Stewart!

Well, where I live most of the population can be found at the ONE grocery store....so I Wal-Mart choosing Blue-Ray over HD might be a big deal for some, but then again, I don't know.

Big deal for me? No. But the fact is as more large retail chains choose sides the more nails that are placed in the coffin. A company with the sales volume the size of Wal-Marts can make a huge difference whether you know it or not. This format war is one that will be hotly debated for he next 20 years or so, just as VHS -vs- Betamax is often still hotly debated today. You may not grasp it, but you are actually watching technology history in the making.

And this time, unlike VHS/Beta, the superior format is winning.

Wow this news is awesome. I was going to wait till the summer to see which format will win so I can decide on Blu-Ray of HD-DVD. Now my decision is made. I honestly wanted the Blu-Ray to win over HD-DVD so I can get a PS3. Didn't feel like spending so much money twice. Sweeet. PS3 here I come.
