I'm Trying to figure out how to hide desktop icons. I know this has probably been asked a time or two before. When I had a PC, I was able to hide all or some of the desktop folders & Icon. Just trying to figure out how to do this with my Mac! Thanks!

All I really want to do is make the icons & folders invisible (except for the hard drive icon) & make them visible when I chose to.

Mac's
again... DeskShade. :D

It DOES hide the HD icon... but you can easily access a finder window by pressing Cmd+N (while Finder is the focus).

I have DeskShade set to hide/reveal all icons when I press Cmd+1.

It couldn't be easier.

Is this program free for any period of time?
