I heard cellulo was the best way to play movies with a .srt file. i tried opening them both up in cellulo but it dosent let me open the .srt.

I heard you can open subtitle files in VLC when you uncheck some box in preferences but i couldnt find the box in the newest version of VLC.

Any help is appreciated, thank you.

From the VLC menu, goto Preferences>Video>Subtitles/OSD
Check the "Auto detect subtitle files" box.
If the .srt file is on the same location as the movie it should play it now. (The names of both files should match)

In VLC,
1. Click File>Open File;
2. Open Source window appears;
3. Select video file as you normally would;
4. In same Open Source window, click "Load subtitles file" box
5. Select subtitle file (I believe VLC supports .srt, .idx, and .sub file extensions)
6. Click OK
