Ur Worst Windows "Situation"

Feel free to post your worst windows problems or situations here. Its always funny to hear problems... I'll start.

Ok, so my windows machine got a virus and wouldnt repair, so i reinstalled xp. Then i turned it on and it froze. So then i resarted and it said the registry was corrupt!!! So i was very angry. Then i reinstalled xp again. It froze again and then the power supply shorted out for a second. It froze again and i resarted. Then it told me i was missing an "important" system file!!! So then i installed windows 98. (yay). Im just hoping the power suply wont short out agian and accidentally delete some sysytem file. lol... i no its sad.

Well, the two times I've used Windows PCs at my school this year instead of my PowerBook, I've had problems.

First time, it was a crap Toshiba laptop. The network card crashed and it wouldn't charge from AC power, meaning I was left with an unsaved assignment, the battery was almost dead and I couldn't save to the network because the network card was malfunctioning.

Second time, I had just finished a long assignment on a pretty good Dell workstation, and I saved it. I then closed it and tried to reopen the assignment. I got a blank page, even though I had Ctrl+S and also clicked the save button before quitting. So I had to spend 2 hours at home retyping the assignment.

And I had about 102 malfunctions on my home PC.

I've never really had any problems with Windows, IMO XP is a pretty good OS!

My XP machine has been running very well for a good 8 months or so now, but it's coming to the end of its install, slowing down quite badly now. The one thing that annoys me to **** is that it can't copy more than two sets of files. On OS X if you copy a set of files followed by another set of files, it just does them at the same time. On my Windows machine, the first set crash and the second set never finish.

I had several annoying crashes with win ME, so I never bothered to try xp. In trying to fix a friends xp it always in short time ends up rendering web sites incompletely and incredible slow, taking a half our to partly show a web site

Hard to pick. The most recent one was finding out the broadband installation guy put my computer in hybernation. My unknowing mother had put it in the bag, meaning it was on for about 2 days, didn't run out of juice cause it was in hybernation. I booted it up today (about 2-3 hours ago actually) finding out about this surprise, to my luck, broadband wouldn't work, i restarted, still didn't work. So I called Telstra Bigpond (provider), they said I should wait 10-20 minutes in switching broadband from computer to computer (I was using my Mac on the internet before this), but she did something to make it work now straight away since they knew we were switching over. I went into IE. Got a nice message from PC-cillin I've got a virus, which couldn't be filtered so it quartinteened it. Got 2 error messgages in the space of 3 minutes, each giving "error report form" after them. The virus amazingly got my computer to warn me it was going to shut down it 60 seconds, which to my surprise it did and restarted. Went on internet again after restart, started getting slower and slower (the internet). Did a virus scan, didn't detect any virus. Somehow it seems it is gone now

NOTE: I have downloaded Windows Media Player 10, certainly nothing speical. Nether is MSN music. Not recommended. I personally think Windows Media 9 is better.

Will, it was one of the those old windows. I slide it open and walked away. it then fell closed and broke.

Ehhh...your parents had to shut it down?!?
Even if it was a PC, shutting it down isn't that complicated: push the power button for 4sec, and if that doesn't work, pull out the power cable...(applies also for Macs, in case of emergency )

You know how to turn on and use a computer, but don't know how to shut it down?!? Am really now...



Oh, and by the way, I had so many bad and very bad moments with Windows (before XP mostly) that I can't remember the worse...sometimes installing it was already enough to make me sick...but there are such moments with every OS...not yet with OS X, but that can still happen

my worst moment prob just as i was finishing my 10,000 word thesis, Norton antivirus decidied to quarantine all of my word files without warning. I almost died when i couldn't open my thesis. I know it wasn't windows directly but if it weren't so riddled with viruses then maybe norton wouldn't have to freak out.
After a small panic attack i found the prob but it was unnecessary stress at the wrong time.

Wow... lots of probs... My machine jsut crashed and got the blaster worm! (the wirus that shuts ur computer down every 60 secs). So now im on windows ME lol.... I'm going to get a new computer soon tho...THANK GOD!!

I would have to say I have more problems with my Apples than Windows.

I've had an iBook g3 display adapter go out
I've had an iBook g3 HD fizzle out
I've had an iBook g3 battery die
I've had a iBook g4 Logic Board Die
I've had a ibook g4 screwed up track pad <--that was a yatch to fix

My G4 desktop has been smooth so far besides the fact of mounting ext. HD's and iPods is wishy washy.

I've had my fair share of windows problems, but not as big or as many as apple. Spyware is Windows down fall and people tend to blame it on the OS. If you are smart about surfing you will not get it. It makes me laugh sometimes when people just blame window for their free porn surfing habits.

Anyways, I wouldn't trade either one of them. I like them both but the apple a touch more.

Thats not the OS faults though. Geeze, if I were you I wouldn't have bought another iBook after that.

Haha, buy another one after that..are you serious. Why would I spend another 1.5k on another faulty iBook. I've had 2 so far. But no, you are right, its hardware not software.

And if hackers made viruses and spyware for apple, you'd all have the same issues as the windows users.

I know

I think Apple would do a better jobs at patchers though

Actually Chico, you can get spyware from going to anysite. It just keeps comming. I've got 616 spyware in 3 days jsut from visiting normal sites,like this one. Its crazy.

Just thought i'd let ya no..lol

Found a better way to secure my windows box

I have a norton anti virus, and I have not got one spyware program on my PC. You have to to be a smart surfer. If it says, download this .exe to download this for free, then chances are, you are downloading spyware. Just click no, it's that simple.

Its all porn and gimicks I'm telling you. They are trying to make a buck off all of you, and when you click yes, they do. Its not just porn too, but anything free has spyware attached. Nothing is free in this world. I've seen both ends of the spectrum. Just click NO!
