iPod movies format

Any reason why if I've converted a movie successfully into MPeg 4 format, I still can't seem to load it onto my ipod?? Just wondering....do I have to put it in Itunes first, and then load it?? I can't seem to do any of this.

Yes, you have to drag the videos into the Movies section of iTunes and then sync them with your iPod under the Video tab.

I did that and it's not appearing in itunes. Can't understand it cause I was under the impression the MP4 is the right format.
