System restore!

I reinstalled my macbook back to its original settings but forgot two backup some files ( movies songs etc) is there anyway to get them back or am i screwed and have to download them again.

i dont exactly know loads about Mac's or Computers etc. but, unless you had an external hard drive or a time capslue, yes... your screwed : D I think.

Did you do an archive and install, or a clean instal?

what is the difference between clean install and archive install because i am selling an older macbook to buy a newer one and want to erase all my stuff for the new owner.

Clean install wipes the entire Hard Drive and re-installs the Operating system, while Archive and Install, re-installs the operating system but keeps all your files and settings.
