Mail cannot connect to POP server

Hi,

I am running 10.5.2 but this problem has been there since 10.5.1, basically Mail cannot connect to a POP server. I have the exact same settings in Thunderbird and it works no problem (so it's not firewall/account settings).

It's like Mail can't access keychain and send the correct password or something? I deleted the account and re-started mail - now I'm stuck in the stupid wizard that won't complete because it sits there trying to connect. It's been going for 20 mins!!

I'd just use Thunderbird but there's no integration with iPhoto.

Any one having the same problem?

Got through to Mail - and ran the connection doctor - here is the detail:

Why is the security level None when I have password selected?

Not sure what your Email provider is, but if possible I would go with IMAP over POP anyway. I know Gmail can use IMAP. You might want to look into that as an option as well.
