Hi,
I have inherited an old g4 at work, and my boss upgraded the monitor to a 28 inch Viewsonic. However, I can't get the screen resolution higher than 1280x1024. There are 2 cards installed since they had been using two monitors.
In slot one there is an ATI Radeon 9000 Pro, but it says no display is connected. Here's the info from system profiler:
ATI Radeon 9000 Pro:
Chipset Model: ATY,RV250
Type: Display
Bus: AGP
Slot: SLOT-1
VRAM (Total): 64 MB
Vendor: ATI (0x1002)
Device ID: 0x4966
Revision ID: 0x0001
ROM Revision: 113-99702-127
Displays:
Display:
Status: No display connected
Display:
Status: No display connected
In slot 3, there's an ATY,GT-C card. The Display is apparently connected to this card, but maybe it's not powerful enough to handle the large monitor.
Chipset Model: ATY,GT-C
Type: Display
Bus: PCI
Slot: SLOT-3
VRAM (Total): 8 MB
Vendor: ATI (0x1002)
Device ID: 0x4749
Revision ID: 0x005c
ROM Revision: 113-43101-124
Displays:
Multiple Scan Display:
Resolution: 1280 x 1024 @ 60 Hz
Depth: 16-bit Color
Core Image: Not Supported
Main Display: Yes
Mirror: Off
Online: Yes
Quartz Extreme: Not Supported
I've tried plugging the monitor into the other card jack, however the monitor says there's no input.
Any idea what I am doing wrong and how I can fix the problem? Should I switch the Radeon to slot 3? Or do we just need a new graphics card?
Thanks!
L
