Try holding the option key while emptying the trash.
It could be a locked file or folder, or a program is still using it.

There's a free utility you can try called Trash it!
Go to macupdate.com
The terminal command is right. It empties the trash and rebuilds it.

Are you referring to installing the program?
If so, just use your password for the Mac. (for logging in)

Also, I forgot to mention before, but have you tried restarting the Mac first?

I don't have any login Password
And yes, I was talking about the installation process
and I did restarted the Mac
------
in MacArabia they suggested me to use OnyX - I'm thinking of paying it a try

If you didn't setup a password, leave it blank and hit enter.
OnyX is a very good program to use as well. (and it's free!)

but
am I supposed to live with this problem for ever? or is there a solution for it?
i mean i hate to expect myself using OnyX to empty the Trash every now and then

Hi,

Leopard has been great overall but I have the Airport dropout problems on both my alu iMac and MacBook.

Strange thing is, it only affects wireless N, If I switch my router to G only all is fine, if I switch back to N and use a windows laptop all is well (shwoing that it is not a router problem), but the macs will only stay connected for a few minutes.

Airport indicator says that still connected with full bars but cannot access or ping anything, turn airport off and back on again and all is well for another 5 minutes, very annoying !

I have had no real issues with anything with 10.5.1 Leopard. Trash works perfectally as does WiFi here on 5 different Macs and 4 different routers and access points.

i dun feel like setting a password
but if there's a need for that, or in case there are things that require passwording, sure, i will set a password
