How do I transfer the songs from my iPod to my new Macbook?

I have a new Macbook and have always used my PC for iTunes. How can I transfer the songs that I have on my iPod to my iTunes library on my Macbook. I know that there's something about reconfiguring the settings, but I don't want to mess anything up. Can someone help?

I'd recommend doing a search. You'll find lots of good info that's already been discussed here.

I am a new Mac user and really could use some advice on how to do this. I don't know much about reformatting and such. I really want my library put onto my Macbook and don't know how to do it.

What schweb was telling you to do was use the Search feature as there have been many questions similar to yours, and duly answered, such as these:
