Editing an ISO or CDR file

iMac (Aluminum), MacBook (Core Duo), iPod (Classic), 16GB iPhone 3G
I took some files off a cdr (or ISO) to modify some of the files on it and now need to get the modified files back onto the ISO. How would I do this? Or do I need to take all the files off the ISO into a folder, put the modified files into that folder and create an ISO/CDR from the folder?
