In safari is there a way to make it so that if I click in the location bar it selects the whole URL like it does in Firefox?

there is a way - just click on the icon on the far left of the address.

Yes, Eric is correct. Just click in the bar at the left end where the icon shows just before the url. If you want to copy it hit Command+C and Command +V to paste. Just like Windows except Command instead of Control. I do it all the time to post URL's to people.

thanks for the fast response,

I already new that, but I still prefer to click anywhere in the Location Bar and have it select all the text.

Also because windows users use my mac sometimes, they get frustrated with the location bar in Safari..lol

You can also click at the right end and hold down and hi-light the URL

Or triple-click in the location bar.

The Safari location bar is consistent with every other text box on the Mac (or Windows, for that matter.) One click places the insertion point. Double-clicking selects a word. Triple-clicking selects the block. Just like in Pages or TextWrangler or Word or anything else.

oh yeah, but then you have to be already in the location bar...
otherwise you'll have the whole page selected, and with command+L you can be anywhere.
but it's surely an option :)
