do you need an airport card for airport express?

im planning to get an ibook and network wirelessly with my windows pc. im going to network through airport express, and i just wanna ask if i need an airport card? or is that only for airport extreme?

do you need the airport card if you wanna use WiFi hotspots?

also, if you connect wirelessly, do you have to be in the same room as the airport express?

Also, just to clarify, if you're buying a G4 iBook, you'll need an AirPort Extreme card, not a regular AirPort card.

well whats the difference between the airport extreme and the regular one?

airport (extreme)

The airport is the older standard 802.11b which means wirelessly you max out at 11mbps the new airport extreme is 802.11g which means you top out at 54mbps wirelessly thats the diff speed.

They also have a different connector.
Airport is PCMCIA and AirportExtreme is MiniPCI, and the actual Macs only have the AirportExtreme connector.

And Apple doesn't produce or sell old Airport cards anymore.

all the brand new ibooks 12" and bigger have airport extreme and the bluetooth built in now. the older ibooks i think 1.07ghz and slower were optional
