I may be going to the local Apple store tomorrow to buy my first Mac. I'm wanting to get a Mac Pro with one quad core, and the GeForce 8800 graphics card. The problem I discovered calling there tonight is that the graphics card is only available by ordering online. My thought is to just get the standard graphics card and buy the GeForce somewhere else. I am also planning on buying an additional 4GB of memory somewhere else, probably Fry's.
I guess the question is, is there a special GeForce 8800 GT 512MB card for the Mac, or do I just get whatever I can find? I really don't want to wait the 3 weeks for delivery that the Apple online store is quoting me. Call me impatient, but that's just the way it is. I also plan to call the Apple store and basically ask them this same question.
