hi

my ibook seems to have completely died.

cannot get it to restart i've tried the disc but the drive won't read it,
and nothing happens either when i tried a firewire cable

i thing the hard drive may have gone, anbody tell me if theres anything else i can try before i take it to apple?

what comes up on the screen when you first press the power button? when did it start doing this?

thanks for the reply

nothing completely zero

no sounds no led lights nothing

tried to start it when it happened got gray screen chimes
then nothing

If the power outlet you have it plugged into, the power brick, and the battery are all known-good you should look at the PMU.

A computer's PMU is relevant to power-on issues - try resetting it:

Simultaneously press and release Shift-Control-Option-Power on the keyboard (don't touch the fn key while doing this). Wait 5 seconds. Press the power button to restart it.
