Maintenance Software

I'm a new iMac user and understand Leopard does occassional system maintenance but my compter sleeps during the day while I'm at work and all night. I'm concerned that perhaps all maintenance tasks aren't being completed. I've looked at Cocktail, Onyx. CleanApps and a few others. Since I'm new to Mac, I don't want to run software that has the potential to mess up my system, what do you guys/gals suggest? I don't mind paying for quality software so it doesn't matter to me if it's freeware.

I personally use Onyx as I like the interface better than MainMenu, which btw, is also a great piece of software.

I've been using MacJanitor without problems. There's also an automator action on Apple's site for maintenance. I've downloaded it but I haven't tried it yet.

Oynx gets my vote

Most are around here are using MainMenu and Onyx.
If you like tweaking, Onyx is for you. It's the one I used early on and has quite a few options not really available in MainMenu.
If you like easy, MainMenu is great.
Give 'em both a try and test which one rocks your boat.

Both MainMenu and Oynx are great. MainMenu stays up in the toolbar by the clock and you click and get a drop down with all the commands. Onyx is more like an application on your desktop. Both get the job done. I would try both and see what you like.

Onyx is great also a little Utility named Macaroni. You can set schedules on this and just leave it to get on with the job.
