Hi everyone,

I haven't been able to find an exact solution to my problem but I know it is doable. Basically I want to save an image of my current 80GB HDD in my Macbook and restore it onto my new 250GB HDD (I was told that this is possible, but not how). Now, the only place I can store this image is on an external USB HDD (I don't have firewire), or onto a PC.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure about the exact steps to do this properly. I've heard that you have to use Carbon Copy Cloner.

If anyone can give me some instructions or tips, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

You could just do a data migration from a time machine backup after a clean install. That is what I had done on my machine once it worked great.

Thank you for your replies.

What I don't understand is: where am I supposed to save that image? Say I save my image onto an external hard drive and then do a clean install. Could I actually restore the image from the new install? Is it that simple?

Thanks.
