I can't remember

In Tiger I had all windows and everything appear in Name order and Snap to Grid. A lot of the windows wont stay like that, does anyone know how make like lets say the Applications folder always in Name order and Snap to Grid because whenever I add a application it always goes to the bottom not in order.

anyone remeber cause it really bugs me that everything is jubbled everywhere
