Hi Someone recommended the missing manual but I've seen Mac for Dummies on Amazon. Which one is best for a switcher?
Thanks

IMO, Leopard Missing Manual gives you space to grow in your knowledge while the for Dummies series is very basic.

I am new to Mac also. I went with The Missing Manual. It along with the forums has answered any questions I have had.

If you do a google search you can get the book with a 40% discount.
This enabled me to get the manual for the iphone as well.
2 books for not much more than 1 at original price.

I'm also a new Mac user and I bought both books. The Missing Manual is far better and as MacHeadCase stated, it gives you plenty space to grow. I also have iPhoto The Missing Manual which was just released late last month. It is very, very good!

Both are good, but Missing Manual is a lot more "meaty" than the Dummies ed. I looked at both and bought the Missing Manual. In fact, my g/f has also been reading it and says it's very easy to follow.

I also recommend "Switching to Mac" which is one of the books in the Missing Manual series. It describes how to do the things on your new Mac that you have been doing in Windows. I found this book to be very useful when I made the change.

I also recommend visiting the web site called My First Mac

Fantastic Site for "switchers".
