I'm having trouble between getting a 2Gig RAM or a 4Gig RAM for my iMac. I' not sure I need 4Gig since I usually only run my MSN Messenger, Safari and Transmission on at the same time, or boot into Windows occasionally to play games. Although the 2Gig would suit me just fine, it'd be a bonus to get a 4Gig since my iMac is gonna last me for quite a long time as I've only bought it late last year. But the most important factor is still the cost, as I'm not sure whether I'll be able to afford the 4Gig RAM or not since I'm planning on getting other stuff like new 2.1 speakers, a printer and such.

What are you takes on this?

Id say if you can afford the extra go ahead and get the 4gb.

Not a bad price, I currently stole a 1gb stick outta my windows laptop so I can run 2gb in my iMac, but I think I'm gonna pick up that 4gb kit from newegg. Can't really go wrong for that price.

2 gig works fine for me and I do the same sort of stuff you say you do.

Looks like 2GB is more than enough for your needs. Save yourself some money and skip 4GB.

Besides, you could always upgrade the ram later......

Hmm. Then should I get an additional 1Gig to make it 2x1 or get a 2Gig to make it a 2+1? I heard that pairing up similar RAMs gives it a better performance. If I go for just an additional 1Gig then it wouldn't be wise to upgrade the RAM later since I'd waste the 1Gig I bought.
