I bought 2 GB of Kingston RAM for my macbook....but I don't know how to put it in....i didnt buy from Apple so they probably wouldn't help me right?

The back of the package gives easy 3 step instructions.

I guess my question is: Is there anyway I can mess this up and should i go for it ? I"m not exactly sure how....and im not sure if i should play and try to do it myself....

this article says that it you can only install up to 2GB RAM

is it possible to install 4GB so i dont have to pay the extra $850 for the 4GB RAM setup from apple directly.
Or is that the only way i can get 4GB RAM in my macbook

The article is just old. You can install up to 4GB in newer MacBooks.

I'm no expert but I have read that you should not put more than 3GB ram in. Just an observation.

Where did you read that? Just curious because the Apple website shows that MacBooks go up to 4GB.

crucial.com has decent prices on memory

basically you need ram thats PC2-5300 or PC2-5400. my white 2.2ghz macbook is using 4gb of ram made by OCZ company and its PC2-5400 ram (what ever that means)

basically there is no difference between 5300 and 5400

Does that memory work for a macbook? If so, why the heck would Apple charge $700+ for 4gb of ram (if you upgrade your macbook thats what it says).

Yes they have memory for all apple computers. Well most anyway. The page I referenced in the link was the macbook ram.

I tried putting my memory chips in today and now the computer isn't powering on, and the light is blinking on and off. I know this is a generally common thing and it means the memory isnt in right........so i tried to put the original memory in and got the same thing.

I must be doing something wrong. Should I just take it to an Apple store? They'll prolly do it in a second, and make me look like an idiot, huh?

Macbook's memory slots are very, very tight. Open it back up and really jam it in there.

I just about sliced my fingers in half when I upgraded my Macbook from 1Gig to 2gig.

I just got my Macbook black yesterday, and immediately upgraded it to 4GB.

It was super easy. All you need is a coin and a tiny screwdriver, like one for eyeglasses (phillips head).

I didn't have to shove the memory in there too much, just a firm push. It was actually much easier to insert than I normally find desktop PC memory to be.

Booted up my Macbook, checked "About this Mac", instantly recognized. Probably took me all of 10 minutes.
