Icons not showing up in Application menu

When I install some apps the icons don't appear in the new 10.5 application menu (from the dock). See the attached screen shot.

I drag the applications from their mounted folder to the applications folder like I'm supposed to but for some reason the icons aren't showing up... I have several now that aren't showing.

Is there something I can do to fix this?

that happens to me somethimes...
in all cases it went away after a restart

Applications

Same problem. Some do show up, but others I have to search for. It does say that they are in the Application folder, though. They just don't show up. Restarting/re-installing doesn't seem to help.

When you type "Applications" into Spotlight, does more than one folder show up in the list?
