I'd like to know if Time Capsule will save and hold files, photos, etc that aren't backed-up duplicates? The reason is that we have three family macs on an ethernet network that are all stuffed up. We need more hard disk space rather than a backup duplicate of our already stuffed up machines. Can we copy to TC as a networked NAS then delete from our laptops, or just save originals to TC then work on TC saved documents from our laptops? The Apple trailers are selling TC's ability to do back-ups, but we just need much more accessible hard disk space.

Time Capsule with Time Machine in Leopard is the ideal backup solution. But that doesn’t mean Tiger, Windows XP, and Windows Vista users can’t enjoy the benefits of Time Capsule, too. Because it mounts as a wireless hard drive, Tiger and Windows users simply access Time Capsule directly from the wireless network for exchanging and storing files quickly and easily.

...found on Apple's website :)
