I just ordered osx 10.5.1, quite definitely had a .1 on the end as the reciept says so and so does the screen I ordered it from.

But I've been sent 10.5 with out the .1
Have I been sent the wrong one or is 10.5 the same as 10.5.1?

The retail disk of Leopard is 10.5...
10.5.1 is a download update. Even Apple lists the Leopard disk as 10.5 not 10.5.1.

After a quick google, looks like the sites that have it listed as 10.5.1 are primarily windows sites and really know nothing about OS X. Their ad writers are either making false assumptions or just using blatant false advertising.

Bobtomay is correct. Just install it and later run Software Update if it does not run on it's own.

How do you intend to install? Upgrade of Tiger 10.4.11? Archive and Install to me is a lot safer than a plain upgrade.

Thats brilliant, thank you.
I thought it may work like that, but had to check.

Not sure about the install.
I'm on 10.4.11.
My mac is 2nd hand though and has some strange settings which make it difficult to network.
I think I'll clone my Hard drive onto the external (just in case) Format and do a clean install.

I'm gonna lose photoshop and a few other bits, but I have office on disk and thats the one I need for uni.

If anyone has some suggestions about the best way to do this I'd be grateful.

What Mac do you own?

If you do not want to loose any software or settings when you boot from the OSX 10.5 DVD, click on Options and select Archive and Install. It will install Leopard and keep all your settings and applications.
