Installing RAM on a Macbook is very easy and takes about 2 minutes.

You should see a good performance increase from 1Gb to 2Gb!

You only going to be able to put 2Gb in it. The extra gig will be a huge performace booster though :D

Dude... That's the link for the new macbook with the updated processor that come out when leopard was released. the origional ones only support 2 gigs. check your info, that links's for the new macbooks... they don't even make a black one with the 2.0 any more. He has the old style that only supports 2 gigs. Check these links:

Macbook, 2GHtz, 2Gb RAM, 320Gb HDD. 16Gb iPT Jailbroken.
If you bought it in January 2007 then it will only support up to 2G of RAM.

Late 2006 specs.

Also quad104, your hardware overview is identical to mine. It's a late 2006 model. The late 2006 models with a 2GHz chip had the super drive, mid 2007 only had the combo drive. They both have a 667MHz System Bus, the newer MacBooks with an 800MHz bus can use 4Gb of RAM.

Hope this clarifies everything.

it was the very first to come out in black.
intel core 2 duo

Mine is a Core Duo (original) and Black, just FYI, so the C2D was not the 1st black model.

Both the 1st Core Duo and 1st Core 2 Duo could only support 2Gigs of RAM

*edit I see this has been clarified.

Anyway, yes a RAM boost from 1 to 2 gigs will increase performance.
