Some image issues

I'm new to mac's, and apologies if this has been posted a zillion times before, but for some reason my images seem to come up tiny on the mac?!

When I open them in IPhoto they are quite normal, but if I copy the image to my desktop, and then upload to the internet, i get the following results:



Is there anything that i'm doing wrong? it's annoying.

I don't think it's my camera as I have it on the highest setting/resolution etc..

where are you uploading them to? Some places have a size limit, and may automatically resize your pics for you, but I've not seem them resize that small.

Have you opened the original image in any other application?
Also, how are you copying to the desktop? If you're doing it through finder, there's a chance you're copying the thumbnail image, and not the original.
