custom external enclosures?

i have an old shuttle XPC that i want to turn into an external enclosure because I want to use the burner and the hdd in it without having to spend 80 bucks on 2 enclosures that will just give me more cables to have to deal with. the PC has all its original components. the drives are both IDE. any ideas?
