I've got a mac mini networked (via an ethernet router) to my macbook? Connected to the mac mini is a USB 2.0 external HD. I would like to make this HD the source for all my movies and photos for both my computers. How do I do this? Would it even be advisable?

Go to finder and go to Go> Connect to server (apple + K) Then type in the IP address of the mac mini and it should allow you to select which drive to connect to. Then on your macbook you can browse through all the files.

You can also connect to this computer through finder in the networks area. You may have to open some sharing options in the sharing prefs on the mac mini.
