stupid battery calibration question.

Not a silly question. I would leave it in sleep mode for 5 hours as indicated before attaching the power again. Important information is automatically saved to the hard drive and when restarted the computer will start as if nothing had happened.

I toiled with that question. Looks like you will need to do this step before you go to bed.

I don't remember doing this on my battery, but that was years ago. I only did the calibration one time, that is when I first got my system.

Its a brand new battery. Just thought I'd throw out there that re-calibrating pushed it from 98% health to 99%, and it gained 45 mAh.
