Getting the door open

I have a g4 powermac with mdd. I have recently put Tiger on it. Operation has been good and I have been satisfied until I couldn't get the CD drive door to open unless I do the restart and hold the mouse button down. There is an eject key on the keyboard. It has functioned and now doesn't. I went to repair permissions and verified the disk. I recieve a message which states I need to repair the disk however the repair button isn't highlighted. I put the Install Cd back in but the only options ther are new install and archive and install.

??? what now?

What version of Tiger are you running? I believe in the 10.4.10 update they changed it so that you had to hold the Eject button for the disc to eject.

If you want to repair permissions using the Install CD, once OS X loads and you pick your language, there is a menu bar on top. Look for Disk Utility, and from there you can verify and repair permissions along with repair the disk.

Kash is dead on. I forget the exact version where they changed it but you now have to hold the Eject key on the keyboard for 1-2 seconds. The delay was put to prevent accidental ejection of the DVD when being used.

I have 10.4.11. Holding the eject key doesn't work. I followed instructions on Repair and ya'll were right, I need to look up sometimes. So I went to repair the disc and it would not. I copied the record if it will contain clues as to what troubles I am having. I do not have a lot of stuff on here yet in case I need to wipe it and start over. Copy and paste didn't work here is the cliff notes:
