install and use fonts

Hi all, I just get my new mac.

After using Pc's and a Apple laptop i now have a iMac.
And trying to copy some fonts from my old pc's hdd.

But it is not showing in any software i try.

But i see it in the fonts software in the system.
Some have a dot after the name, and some dont.

Can same one help me ??

I didn't quite what the problem is but there is a built in font manager in leopard called font book.app which is quite good.
another alternative to manage fonts (which I personally prefer is Linotype FontExplorer X.app-it's freeware and def. worth a look

The program is working and more fonts are working now.

But not the one i want, lol

The fonts i want to work is in the Libary, but not in one of the system fonts.
Is that the problem ??

how can i make it work ??
the fonts name is "alba" and i got it from a site as Mac and Win fonts

Both mac and pc fonts will work in os x

If you are going to start loading quite a few fonts, font book is not the best app, as kuchiki said, the free font explorer is much much better

If you really want to manage your fonts well I suggest the suitcase (another font management tool - not free) guide (the guide is free)

Just substitute use Suitcase with use Linotype FontExplorer

FontExplorer is good for me.

But still, i see the fonts active in FontExplorer, but can not find or use it in programs like Word ore Fireworks.

Somone a idea ??
