No sound or red light on macbook

Hello!
I used the headphone output to play music on my stereo and suddenly there where no sound at all. There is no red light coming out and it seems like the computer totally lost contact with the soundcard. In system>sound it cant find any in or out sound at all.
Anyone have a clue??
