If anyone is interested in the resolution to my issue, here's an update. I called Apple yesterday and after about an hour on the phone, most of it on hold while they researched my case, they offered to replace my MB. So last night I went and got a new one. It was pretty painless, so I was really happy about that.

The back story is this: My MB was bought new a little over a year ago, end of December, 2006. After about 2 weeks, I noticed that it would randomly shutdown when I closed the top (the clamshell). It would start rebooting immediately sometimes. I could here the start up chimes while it was still closed - spooky! And sometimes it would restart after I opened the clamshell. I called Apple about this 3 or more times, but was never able to get it fixed. It seemed no one knew why it was happening. I had all the updates done and had run disk verify and repair repeatedly. Last Fall, I got the Apple Care extended plan and was sick of the problem and started taking in to a nearby Apple Repair place. They replaced the HD. Then the logic board. Then the logic board again. Then they sent it to Apple, where the HD was replaced again. The day after I got it back, it did the random shutdown thing twice in one hour. That was yesterday and when I called Apple. They were very polite and took a long time to look at the records. I barely had to explain the situation at all. They had me wait on hold for about 20 minutes to transfer me to, um, a specialist? customer specialist? I can't remember the title. He pretty quickly offered to replace it with a new model. Then he called the Apple store closest to me, made sure they had one and made the Genius Bar appointment for me that evening. It took a little while in the store. There's some paper work to do, the store was quite busy and the person helping me hadn't done this before - I don't think it's that common, thankfully! I was there just over 1/2 hour total. And they were very nice and accommodating.

I suspected that replacement was going to be necessary and I was REALLY happy that there was so little drama about it. Yeah!

So now I'm working on transferring my data from my back ups. Hopefully it will be uneventful, too. Wish me luck with Leopard!

Now, hopefully no one here will ever have to hear from me about this issue again, LOL!
