USB, no need to reformat.

As perhaps you have noticed when using some USB memories, when removing files it seemingly makes valid space "vanish". Forcing you to reformat the USB. However there is a simple trick to delete the files without space disappearing.

Open Terminal. Type without quotes "cd .." twice, then "cd Volumes" and then "cd Volume name (the USB)". When inside type "ls" to get a view of the files. Then use the command "rm -R filename" and done. Be warned though, rm -R will permanently remove files when used.

Additionally if your are too lazy to write the whole filename you can start writing it and then press tab, and it will suggest which filename it is.

OR...you just delete them like normal, then empty the Trash.

Yeah, no need for Terminal. Just delete them the way you are supposed to and empty the Trash like you would when you delete something from any other folder or volume.

Hasn't worked on some USBs for me :/
