After a problem with Windows Media Player I tried to reinstall it but got the message that I had to be an administrator to do it.

I only have one account on the Macbook and that is an administrator account.

I have reset the administrator password after re-booting with the installation disk inserted - holding down "C", but it still happens.

Any suggestions?

Does it give you option to authorize it? If it does just enter your name and password. If it doesn't, perhaps it's to do with the program not the mac itself.

If you need something to play .wmv's, try free VLC. I like it better than the M$ WMP anyway.

If rman's link doesn't work, try repairing disk permissions with Disk Utility.
