nano 2g

i have a green 2g ipod which was bought for me as a present about 7 months ago, unfortunely, it keeps freezing up, i've tried all the R's and called apple support, they said i need to bring it into an ipod store, it's not completely broken, but sometimes when i first turn it on and choose a song it can lock up.

what do you normally do if you take it in? do you they bother repairing it? or would i just get a new nano?
