I recently purchased a MacBook. The first thing that I noticed about it was the strange checkerboard effect which is visible on the entire screen. It is pretty regular, and for my eye, is 2x2 pixels.

Now I don't know if this is something wrong with my display, or panels they put in macbooks.

Now, did anybody notice same effect in his macbook?

I put a photo, with some notes on the effect here:

Any comments most welcome!

Since it's a consistent problem across 2 operating systems, I'd say you have a hardware defect. Call Apple about getting a replacement.
