I have an old 1999 g4 ethernet and a 2006 intel iMac 1.83 with 150GB hard drive and upgraded 2GB RAM
Alright folks,

I've just got my hands on an old apple 1999 G4 Ethernet with 20GB hard drive. What I want to do is use this as platform to create a truly awesome computer. I'm new to all this so I'm hoping I can get some wise words from all you good people to make this something truly beutifull.

Well there are several things you can do. First thing I would do would be to get a bigger and faster Hard Drive. Then some RAM depending on what you want to do. A USB PCI card too. And then if you really want to shell some cash out you could get a new graphics card and faster CPU.
*edit*
I forgot to add a good CD-ROM

I think RAM will probably make the largest difference.

But I'd caution against sinking too much money into what is basically an obsolete machine.

Have fun tricking it out a bit, but don't go spending crazy money on the upgrades!

perfect advice! some upgrading is good but at some point you might get into a price range where you would rather get a new machine.

RAM is probably the first thing I would do.
